CPIS

On the 1st March 2010 Tradegate working with Victorian Transport Association, Container Parks and Shipping Lines in Victoria initiated a pilot for a Container Park Information System (CPIS) aimed at improving the flow of information about the release and return of empty containers.

Using a combination of electronic messaging and a community website CPIS offers functionality to each party in the community.

Features – Export Release

  • Shipping line sends export release to CPIS
  • CPIS sends export release to container park
  • Transport company checks availability via CPIS website and nominates pick up date and time

Features – Import Empty Return

  • Shipping line sends Container Return Advice (CRA) to container park via CPIS – this provides advanced information to the container park of what containers are expected to be returned to the nominated park;
  • Transport company selects container and return location and provides the nominated date/time for return of the empty (MRA) to the container park via the CPIS website

Before nominating the date/time of pick up or delivery the transport provider is able to see how busy each park is.

Benefits to Transport Companies

  • Access up-to-date information from each Container Park via a notice board
